ANNUAL COMPETITIONS & TROPHIES

There are many long-standing and hotly contested trophies that are competed for in our mini-circuit competition. The following awards and trophies recognise each year's best efforts in the Mini Circuit:


Mini Circuit Hacks Points Prize
Points awarded to a combination (same throughout the series) from placings in the highest two starts per Mini Circuit day. 1st to 4th placegetters win a scholarship. Points are awarded according to a formula based on the height of the class and the number of entries in the class. Only 2 wins in each class height up to and including 1.00m will count towards a combination's points total in each season.

Mini Circuit Ponies Point Prize
Points awarded as for the hacks except only 2 wins in each class height up to and including 90cm will count towards a combination's points total in each season. 1st to 3rd placegetters win a scholarship.

Arturo Stakes
Class At 1.15m On The Finals Day Open to horses with 3 or less graded wins previous to the beginning of the season. Graded wins are at 1.10m and above. Points must be obtained to qualify and are awarded from results in 1.05m classes and above at Mini Circuit days.

Top Pony Stakes
Class At 1.05m On The Finals Day Open to ponies with 3 or less graded wins previous to the beginning of the season. Graded wins are at 1.00m and above. Points must be obtained to qualify and are awarded from results in 1.00m classes and above at Mini Circuit days.

Open Horse Futurity
Class At 1.20 On The Finals Day Mini Circuit points are taken forward and combined with points gained in class on the finals day. Points are added in realistic equalised manner. e.g. If highest Mini Circuit points are 27 then the 1st place m the class on the finals day receives 27 points. The highest total points win the Futurity and a substantial prize and rug.

Open Pony Futurity
Class At 1.10m On The Finals Day. Awarded the same way as the Open Horse Futurity

Newcomers Cup
Class At 1.05 M On The Finals Day Open to new combinations this season. Qualifiers must gain points in the Mini Circuit.

Young Horse Wedgewood Blue Cup
Class Height On The Finals Day : 4yr-80cm, 5yr- 1.oom, 6yr-1.05m For horses 6yrs and under and on handicap. They must gain points in the Mini Circuit and compete on the Finals Day.

Dale Jones Open Pony Cup
Rider and pony combination obtaining the greatest points in classes 1.05m and above.

Trinity Cup
For riders aged 13 yrs and under at the date of first mini-circuit show. Rider/pony combination obtaining the greatest points on the Mini Circuit days.

Grice Kerr Cup
For riders 14 Yrs to 16 yrs at the date of first mini-circuit show. Rider in combination with a horse or pony (same combination for the season) obtaining the greatest points on the Mini Circuit days.

Morgan Richards Trophy
For the best placed hack combination in the 1.00m Derby Class at the Waitangi show. (If a Derby class is held)

 

FINALS DAY - WAITANGI WEEKEND SHOW
At this show most final classes will be incorporated in appropriate classes and the results will be separated out.

Please note that to be eligible for Mini Circuit prizes the rider and/or horse must have attended at least three of our Mini Circuit days. Combinations must both be registered with the NZEF to be eligible.
